Permission to Rest Day Retreat

Saturday 18th April, 11:00 - 6pm | Lower Largo, Scotland

There’s something about stepping away for a day that changes everything.

Not a big reset.
Not a transformation.
Just space - to slow down. To land.To take a deep breath and a long exhale.
To remember what it feels like to not be in a rush.

One day retreat by the sea an extended version of our monthly Permission to Rest sessions is here to provide just that! A full day to pause, yoga, brunch, sauna, connection and a slower rhythm right by the sea. Time to read, nap or chat. You choose.

Start the day with a gentle meditation and a seasonal Yin practice.
Enjoy a delicious vegetarian brunch prepared by a private chef Dominika ( some of you might know her from our retreat last year!) Time to dine, chat & connect at the table is always my favourite part. After the meal together enjoy some free time - take a nap on the sofa, chat, read a book, take a stroll down the beach or enjoy coffee sitting on the terrace overlooking the water.
Once we digest we dive into deeply restorative Nidra followed by a private outdoor sauna session.
( If you don’t want to join sauna you’re welcome to stay in and relax )

Spaces are limited to keep the group intimate.
Book your spot here or email if you have any questions.

This Day Retreat is a perfect little treat. It’s for everyone who is longing to rest, connect, take a little break. It’s also for you if what you need most is something much simpler. Maybe you just need a day to escape your day to day, sit with a book and a cup of tea in hand with no one wanting anything from you. To have an unhurried conversation. To spend time near others, without needing to engage all the time. You’re welcome to join all the activities or to quietly step out whenever you feel like it.
There’s no “right way” to be here. Just your way.

What’s included in the price:

  • Gentle 75min Yin practice

  • Deeply nourishing 30min Yoga Nidra session

  • Time by the sea. Take a walk or sit on the terrace overlooking the water while you read or drink a cup of tea.

  • Outdoor Sauna session to warm, soften and support the body

  • A full shared vegeterian brunch cooked by a private chef

  • Space for connection or quiet, if that’s what you need

  • Tea, coffee, snacks and time with no agenda

Rest environment matters

We’ll spend the day at Cardy Net House a unique home right on the shoreline in Lower Largo. Just a few steps from the beach, with open views across the sea from the terrace, it’s the kind of place where the horizon feels wide and your nervous system instinctively begins to soften. Only 1hr car drive from Edinburgh and accessible train and bus connection from the Edinburgh City Centre.

The house itself carries a quiet sense of history once a 19th-century net factory, now thoughtfully transformed into a bright, spacious home filled with light and openness.

You can step outside to the beautiful Garden with a cup of tea or sit on the terrace, and watch the water move. Being this close to the sea has a way of slowing things down naturally. It gives you space without asking anything in return. Lot’s of open plan indoor space to enjoy too and a cosy fireplace.

What to bring with you for the day:

  • Comfortable and cosy clothing for yoga and lounging around the house ( socks, hoodie, leggins )

  • Walking shoes or trainers if you want ti venture out for a walk down the beach

  • Slippers or socks to wear around the house

  • Swimming costume, quick drying towel and small towel to sit on in the sauna if you’re planning to attend sauna session

  • Book to read, journal to write in and anything else you’d like to relax

  • All yoga props provided but you’re welcome to bring your own eye pillow if you’d like

  • Open heart and maybe a friend? ;)

  • Transport: our venue is easily accessible by bus or train from Edinburgh. I will however create a little WhatsApp group in case someone going by car would love to take someone with them.

I was initially hesitant to attend rest yoga retreat alone, but I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. From the start, the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere put me at ease. Paula’s approach was refreshing, offering space for everyone to move at their own pace with plenty of options for all levels. There was no pressure - just encouragement to rest deeply and listen to your body. Balance of quiet reflection and connection with other participants was perfect. The insights from these conversations were as valuable as the rest itself. Retreat not only left me feeling more rested than I have in ages but also reminded me of the true essence of yoga: mindfulness, connection, and self - care. Best thing I did for myself in years.

Permission to Rest retreat with Paula was, without a doubt, one of my top highlights of 2024! It felt like time really slowed down.Thoughtfully curated schedule, every detail was designed to create the perfect cocoon for rest. We were all met and welcomed with such softness, care, and intention which rippled through the group and the retreat…whatever you needed or however you were feeling was truly welcomed. Even though we were only away for a few days, it felt like so much longer, in the best way. I left feeling nurtured, inspired and so grateful to have met so many wonderful people. I can’t wait to join the next one!

Paula’s Rest Retreat provided a wonderful opportunity for me to relax & rejuvenate. Careful attention to every detail ensured that the group had everything we could possibly need, from delicious meals to exceptional accommodation, and everything in between!

Thoughtfully designed schedule and tailored to our need for rest, allowing us plenty of personal time to relax throughout the day. The retreat was peaceful, picturesque, and absolute bliss. I had a truly enriching experience learning the value of rest and will certainly be booking future retreats with Paula.
