BEYIN - YIN YOGA FUNDAMENTALS / online workshop

Join me to discover the gems of Yin Yoga Practice.
This 2hr online workshop will highlight the basic principles of the practice - do’s and don’ts.

We will cover the topics of fascia & connective tissues, meridian lines as well as some aspects of functional anatomy and acupressure points. My aim for this workshop is to share with you what I know and love about this incredible practice so that hopefully you can begin to understand what benefits you can get from incorporating it into your life. Both on and off the mat.

This workshop is suitable for all levels. Those who never practised Yin Yoga before as well as those who have an established practice as we will dive into both theory and the actual practice itself.

Permission to Rest (Copy)

Every 1st Sunday of the month

These monthly sessions will aim to replenish your energy and boost your immune system.

Long-held supported postures, combined with different breathing exercises will activate the parasympathetic nervous system ( rest & digest) which is responsible for the health and balance of our body and mind.

This practice is designed for anyone and everyone. Perfect if you are feeling weak, tired, stressed or recovering from an injury. But also a great opportunity to when “life happens” and a great form of your self-care routine.

Propped up, supported and nurtured for an extended period of time you will give your body a chance to restore and repair itself. Finishing off the session with Yoga Nidra practice where you can relax deeply.

* Go to Book than Courses while you’re on East Side Yoga Website to book your spot.

Restorative yoga practice gives you permission to lie down, soften, slow down the brain waves, soothe the nervous system, recharge, boost energy levels, unfold over props, feel supported and held in comfortable silence. Practised regularly it can help to relieve chronic fatigue and inflammation, as well as minimise the symptoms of stress and anxiety. Improving the quality of your sleep patterns and general wellbeing.

Wear loose comfortable clothing, and feel free to bring any extra comfy layers such as socks, eye pillows or your favourite blanket to feel truly nourished.

Yin and Sound Journey with Kate Cohen

Yin and Sound Journey with Kate Cohen

After a winter rest, the power of springtime surges through nature - and through us. ... In spring, those aspects of us that have been dormant over the winter months begin to awaken. Just as nature enters a cycle of renewal, growth and expansion—so does the energy within us.

By bringing new energy into the light we can let go and detox ourselves from all that no longer serves us.In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season corresponds to different organs and their meridians — the subtle energy channels that allow the flow of our chi. We'll be working with liver and gall bladder meridians that are connected to the season of spring.

* * *

This seasonal yin practice will take you through a selection of mat-based poses that will help to stimulate these meridians. Working with the breath and finding mild discomfort in each pose and remaining still for anywhere between 3-7 mins we will stimulate that energy flow through the body, release physical tension in our connective tissues and activate our parasympathetic nervous system. Yin Yoga is a very mindful and meditative practice and no previous experience is necessary.

After practice we will move into an hr of sound to allow our intentions to sink in and to remove any energy blocks from our system, and simply restore and relax.

IMPORTANT

Please bring comfortable clothing ( layers, socks, hoodies etc) as the body temperature will drop with this steady practice where we stay close to the ground. Feel free to bring your favourite blanket or a small cushion, eye pillow or anything else that will help you be nice and comfortable for your sound journey.

Yin & Sound Journey with Kate Cohen

This event will start by a grounding meditation and will lead to a Yin practice followed by a sound journey and a long relaxing Shavasana.

Paula will guide you through a gentle yet juicy Yin practice designed to release tension from the body. Practice will focus on staying close to the ground and being supported by the props, cultivating patience by allowing the time to help you create space for yourself to soften into the edges of sensations while we stay in poses for anywhere between 3-7mins.

Kate will take you on a journey through sound, that will allow you to relax deeply and restore physically and energetically.

This is a great way to allow yourself some time to slow down and relax after a busy or stressful week or as a part of your self-care routine.

Please wear some comfortable, loose and warm clothing that will allow you to move freely during the practice but will also keep you cosy during long Shavasana and sound bath. You're welcome to bring your own blanket and eye pillow if you wish.

*This event is suitable for all levels and you don't need any previous yoga experience. Pregnant students are not advised to attend this workshop.

BREATHE YIN BREATHE OUT

BREATHE YIN BREATHE OUT

Autumn is an important transitional season, a time to re-centre, create stability, balance and comfort, in preparation for the cooler yin stages of autumn and winter.
Ruled by the Metal element, Lungs and Large Intestine meridians - it’s a time of transition, signal to slow down and try to find balance. Time to take a deeper breath into what the new season of our lives have to offer.

Focusing our intention on looking in, moving slowly and breathing mindfully, we will explore the qualities of the Metal element and stimulate the Lungs as well as Large intestine meridians through variety of poses, different breathing techniques as well as some Acu Yin acupressure techniques of self-massaging. Using all these to stimulate a healthy flow of Qi and let go of any stagnant energy from the body.

Staying close to ground in prone and supine positions for longer, inviting the effect of gravity and weight of the bolsters to find our centre practice will finish off with a Yoga Nidra to help you find a deep state of rest and re balance your nervous system.  Allowing stillness, while you reset and re-balance every level of your being, you will leave feeling grounded, centred and able to let go of any physical and perhaps some emotional tension in preparation for the new season.

*This workshop is open to all levels but it is not suitable for pregnant students.

LET'S TALK ABOUT LOSS / GLASGOW

LET'S TALK ABOUT LOSS / GLASGOW

Whether you‘ve experienced stillbirth, miscarriage, neonatal or pregnancy loss, all are welcome.

During each session we will take the time to honour and remember all babies, to talk about our lives and aspects of our mental health, before finishing with a gentle yoga session if you wish to take part.

We will focus on the different emotions that frequently follow loss; hope, fear, guilt, blame and anxiety, and we’ll discuss how we can manage these as well as the relationships we have with our bodies and with those around us.

Most of the time, society doesn't understand how much losing a baby affects your everyday life, how the shape of our lives and futures change, and how this contributes to the alienation we feel. Therefore this group will help to uncover the importance of having a self-care system in place, exploring the tools and techniques that can help us ease into a new “normal” and cope with the everyday challenges.

As I’ve been through it myself I know how hard it is sometimes to leave the safety of your home and get out to others. I want to re assure you that I will do my best to make you feel safe and nourished. Connecting with other Mums and sharing our experience with each other is one of the best steps I have taken in my own journey to heal.

* Arrive 5-10mins before the time to allow yourself time to settle. I suggest you wear comfortable piece of clothing to allow Paula guide you through a gentle restorative yoga practise. No previous experience necessary.

If you're currently pregnant please send me an email prior to booking your ticket.

LET GO INTO FALL

LET GO INTO FALL

Life is a series of cycles and changes. Fall is the time of release and decay.

Trees drop their leaves, flowers wither, and all of the dried up plant byproducts are absorbed by the earth to become minerals and nutrients that will be used for future growth. In honour of this time of transition this 2hr Yin inspired workshop will offer you an opportunity to gain perspective, insight, and clarity. Stimulating the lung and large intestine meridian pair through the interplay of extension and contraction along the upper torso and arms we will work with Metal element to dive deeper into slowing down, letting go and releasing what is no longer serving us.

Incorporating yin and meditation practice to help in the process of letting go and moving forward with positivity and determination concluding with a beautiful yoga nidra to seal the practice to leave you feeling relaxed and renewed!

Investment : £30 / Book through MINDBODY APP or SEND ME AN EMAIL TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT

BEYIN | REST & DIGEST

Late summer is an important transitional season, a time to re-centre, create stability, balance and comfort, in preparation for the cooler yin stages of autumn and winter.
Ruled by the Earth element, it’s a time of abundance, signal to slow down and try to find balance.

Focusing our intention on rooting, grounding and moving from our centre, we will nourish the qualities of the Earth element in variety of ways. Exploring solidity and stability by using props like blocks, bolsters and blankets.

Staying close to earth in prone and supine poses for longer, inviting the effect of gravity and weight of the bolsters to find our centre. Using Acu yin acupressure techniques of self-massaging the legs and feet targeting the meridian lines of stomach and spleen to help you release the stagnant energy from the body. Finishing off with a Yoga Nidra to help you find a deep state of rest.

Inviting the body to explore stillness, while you reset and re-balance every level of your being. You will leave feeling grounded, centred and able to digest the world from a better place, not only physically but also emotionally.
